Passports
- Cypriot passports are only issued to Cypriot citizens. All overseas Cypriots must acquire citizenship before submitting an application for a Cypriot passport. To acquire a Cypriot passport interested parties can apply to the Cypriot Consular Authorities abroad or to any of the District Offices in Cyprus. Passports are generally issued with a validity of ten years.
- Children of Overseas Cypriots who are born abroad do not automatically acquire Cypriot citizenship by birth and must be registered as Cypriot citizens upon application by their parents.
- Children of Overseas Cypriots may be included on the Cypriot passport of their parents, provided that that they acquire Cypriot citizenship and are under the age of 12 years. They cannot, however travel unless they are accompanied by the passport holder.
- Two recent photos, birth certificate, marriage certificate are needed for the issuing of passports for the first time. For renewal of old passports two photos are needed together with the old passport.
- In the event of the loss of a Cypriot passport, the fact must be reported immediately to the local police and the nearest Consular authorities. New passports are reissued in such cases only after thorough investigations.
